Look at this picture called “Holy Motherhood” by Thomas Cooper Gotch. Gotch was an English Pre-Raphaelite painter who made luminous pictures of children.
Look at the faces of these women sitting around the Queen with the babe. Are they the Russian Grand Duchesses of the Romanov Dynasty, the children of Tsar Nicholas and Tsarina Alexandra? Are they Olga, Tatiana, Marie, and Anastasia? Is the baby Alexei? Is the Queen Alexandra? Look here, and look at the photos. It is a mystery. How could the painter have conjured them from the future?

To me, the similarities are uncanny. There was no connection between Gotch and the Russian royal family. It happens though, all the time. Creative people pick things up from the ether.
